Using the DM32 File Manager, you set up your system file source and target directories, plus password lists to route the file(s) to the proper Master.

Set Up DM32 File Manager

  1. Make sure the DM32.EXE file resides on the local edit station.

  2. Run the DM32.EXE file. A password prompt appears. Because it transfers the Master database, the DM32 File Manager is passworded for security.

  3. Enter your password. If this is your first time logging in, get your password from the system administrator. (The password is case sensitive and must be all lowercase.) The Database Transfer Utility window appears. From this window you select the master to which you will download the database or individual file(s).

Screen Overview

Select Host

  1. From the Database Transfer Utility toolbar, click File>Host. A Host Select window appears. This is where you add and select the name and IP address of the Master (Host) to which you will upload the database or files. You can also delete existing names.

  2. From the scroll bar on the left, select a host. If you are adding a host, follow the steps below.

To Add a Host

  1. Click OK to select the Host. The Database Transfer Utility window reappears showing the selected Host name.

  2. Verify that you have the correct information.

  3. In the Path box, type the full path name of the directory containing the database files you are transferring (local or network drive) or use the browse button to select a directory. If you send the entire database, all the *.SET, *.SCR, and *.BIN files will be transferred. If you want to send individual files, specify the files in the File box.

Click Browse to open a directory window that lets you select single or multiple files to transfer (you can use wildcards *.*).

Make sure the Host is correct, the IP address is correct, and the path is correct before you start the transfer (next step).

Send (Upload New Database)

  1. If you are sending a database: Click Send Database. If you are sending files: Click Send Files.

The transfer starts. The progress area displays status messages as the files are transferred. When the database (or file) is transferred successfully, Transfer Complete appears.

IMPORTANT
: If the transfer is aborted for any reason (network times out or is busy), click Send Database again. DO NOT REBOOT THE MASTER UNTIL YOU RESEND THE FILES SUCCESSFULLY. If you reboot, the Master will abort because its files will be corrupted. If you cannot successfully resend the files, do not reboot the Master. Troubleshooting.

Activate the New Database

When you transfer the database to the Master successfully, at the Master or workstation, a New Database Ready message will flash in red on the display screen (depending on your configuration). To activate the new database, you need to log into the system and accept the new database. You also need to have the proper access level to accept the database.

Note: The principal person responsible for the Edit Station establishes the login IDs for database editing and all system operations.

To Activate the new Database:

  1. Log into the system. Refer to Logging Into the System via WTV on page 9. A message will be flashing on the screen (New Database Ready or load new database).

  2. Select the flashing text. A prompt will ask if you want to use the new database or the old database. Make your selection. If you select the new database, the old database will be overwritten.
