Remote Terminal Units
Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) provide a direct interface between field sensors, actuators, devices, and the central processing station or control center master. An RTU includes the required signal processing, communication software, and web-based technologies to enable effective control and monitoring of various systems. We offer a variety of Remote Units to suit your industry and requirements. From full rack units to mini units to meet small size projects.
Our suite of remote unit products includes SCADA units and communication monitoring and control (CMS) units. The family of remote units includes intelligent units that allow you to monitor and control equipment remotely from a central location. Our modular units contain highly intelligent processing capabilities. These smart remote units can free up your master and perform tasks:
- perform routine tasks;
- gather information;
- process, calculate, evaluate, and convert the information (analog data converted to engineering units, for example); and then
- transmit only pertinent data to the Master (report-by-exception).
By performing calculations and repetitious jobs, the remote units free up the Master unit for other vital tasks while decreasing the amount of useless information traveling through the communications channels.
SCADA and Communications Remote Units
The SCADA and CMS remote units perform routine tasks and decrease communications congestion and they are also self contained. If communications between the Master and a remote unit is lost, our intelligent remote unit continues to perform its pre-programmed functions and accumulate status changes. It stores the data until communications is restored and then reports back to the Master. No data is lost. We also provide remote units that can dial out to the Master to establish communications.
Both the SCADA and CMS remote units are modular in design — this allows for convenient maintenance and cost-effective expandability. Plus, we customize each configuration based on customer needs and site requirements.
Within the SCADA family of Remote Units, we offer a choice of powerful processing units. Within the CMS family of Remote Units, there is a choice of powerful processing units in varying sizes: the G4 Series CPU is our newest upgrade replacing the TG332 RTU; and we have our best selling MiniMote RTUs (full power in a smaller package). Each gives you intelligent monitoring and controlling capabilities, and then builds on that base to offer advanced features.

G4 Series
The MSE-Tetragenics G4 Series board boasts performance up to 73 million instructions per second (MIPS) and supports up to 9 on-board serial ports with a serial port expansion board and additional peripheral ports.
TG332 Series CPU
The TG332 Series Central Processing Board (CPU) is a microprocessor computer board that interfaces to the MSE-Tetragenics 2000 Series Bus. It enhances Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, hydroelectric systems, and Communications Monitoring and Control Remote Terminal Units.
The TG332 Remote Unit provides a 20 MHZ 32-bit 68332 processor, flexible software, and 6 RS-232 serial ports (2 of the ports can be configured for RS-422/485). The software allows the unit to communicate with other-vendor protocols, as well as other features. >> TG332 datasheet.
MiniMote-5 Remote Unit
The MiniMote-6 Remote Unit gives you the functions of a full size TG332 in a unit only 1.75" high. It is one of our most powerful, smaller, and most-requested remote unit.
On one PC board the MiniMote-6 contains the processor, 24 points of digital input, 24 points of analog input, 24 points of digital output, and 6 RS-232 serial ports (2 of the ports can be configured for RS-422/485).
